Fortinet FortiClient(TM) Earns 23rd Virus Bulletin VB100 Award

SUNNYVALE, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 11/22/11 -- Fortinet® (NASDAQ: FTNT) -- a leading network security provider and the worldwide leader of unified threat management (UTM) solutions -- today announced the company's FortiClient™ endpoint security solution has been awarded its 23rd Virus Bulletin certification in the Antivirus Awards.

Virus Bulletin staff tested FortiClient along with 43 other endpoint security solutions from multiple countries for malware catch rates and false positive rates.

"FortiClient put in an excellent performance this month, showing some impressive improvements in detection in our RAP tests and handling our certification sets flawlessly, one of few to achieve full detection of the new Extended WildList," said John Hawes, test team director at Virus Bulletin. "What's more, the product proved simple and flexible to operate and showed solid reliability throughout, even under the heavy stress of our intensive testing."

"While it's always good to see FortiClient catching 100% of Virus Bulletin's 'In the Wild' threats, it's even more gratifying to see the performance improvements in our reactive and proactive (RAP) score, which measures the effectiveness of our product against the freshest malware samples available," said Patrick Bedwell, vice president of product marketing for Fortinet. "The performance increase we're seeing in proactive detection is a testament to our threat engine development team as well as the tireless efforts of our global, 24x7 FortiGuard® threat research team."

FortiClient is an enterprise-level endpoint security suite that features the same antivirus technology found in the company's FortiGate® product line. When used in connection with a FortiGate appliance, FortiClient provides a range of security features to help both protect a network and ensure policy compliance. Customers have a choice of deploying FortiClient for secure remote access connectivity or FortiClient Premium for enterprise-grade broad endpoint security. Unlike other security clients that are either connectivity focused or antimalware focused, Fortinet's FortiClient combines the best of both approaches for more complete protection and cost savings.
