Fortinet Receives ICSA Labs Certification for Web Application Firewall

SUNNYVALE, CA, Jun 25, 2010 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX News Network) -- Fortinet(R) (NASDAQ: FTNT) -- a leading network security provider and worldwide leader of unified threat management (UTM) solutions -- today announced that the company's FortiWeb(TM) Web application firewall appliance has received ICSA Labs Web Application Firewall Certification. ICSA Labs, an independent division of Verizon Business, tests industry products in real-life scenarios for security issues to help mitigate potential vulnerabilities. The Web Application Firewall Certification criteria were developed to help security managers gauge the effectiveness of products.

To attain ICSA Labs Certified status, Web application firewall (WAF) products must pass a rigorous set of functional, performance and platform security requirements. Web application firewall products must satisfy the entire set of baseline requirements. The FortiWeb-1000B appliance attained ICSA Labs' WAF Certification after stringent testing of security policy enforcement for the protection of HTTP and HTTPS Web-based applications.

"Fortinet continues to demonstrate its commitment to security with this latest certification," said Brian Monkman, Web application firewall program manager for ICSA Labs. "This is yet another in a long line of ICSA Labs certified Fortinet products, showcasing the company's commitment to end-to-end security."

The FortiWeb family of Web application and XML firewalls protect, balance and accelerate Web applications, databases and the information exchanged between them. Designed for medium and large enterprises, application service and SaaS providers, FortiWeb incorporates Fortinet's advanced threat research to protect Web-based applications, improve the security of confidential information and help address regulatory and Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) compliance. FortiWeb goes beyond traditional Web application firewalls to provide XML security enforcement, application acceleration and server load balancing.

"We are thrilled to have another Fortinet appliance added to our list of ICSA Labs certified products," said Michael Xie, CTO and vice president of engineering at Fortinet. "The network security landscape is constantly changing and therefore it's important for vendors to be up-to-date with certifications such as ICSA Labs. The ICSA Labs certification of FortiWeb further underscores Fortinet's strong, third-party validated product portfolio that helps enterprises secure their network from end-to-end."
