Adif Chooses Fortinet's FortiMail as Its Email Security Platform

SUNNYVALE, CA, Jun 28, 2010 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX News Network) -- Fortinet(R) (NASDAQ: FTNT) -- a leading network security provider and worldwide leader of unified threat management (UTM) solutions -- today announced that Adif, the Spanish Administrator of Railway Infrastructures, has selected its FortiMail(TM) messaging security solution for antivirus and antispam protection. The public organization has opted for Fortinet's technology because it met Adif's high level of compliance and performance requirements. In total, more than 10,000 internal email users will benefit from the security level delivered by the FortiMail messaging platform.

Previously, Adif was using free security software to clean emails but that solution failed to deliver the level of functionality and support the company required. After analyzing several market solutions and launching a public RFP, in 2009 Adif opted for Fortinet's FortiMail platform and decided to implement a cluster of FortiMail-2000A purpose-built email security appliances. One of the main reasons the Fortinet solution was selected was because of FortiMail's high level of functionality to address compliance and performance requirements.

According to Mariano Vera Sanchez, IT Security Chief Officer at Adif, "The FortiMail-2000A will enable us to filter spam or malware with a very low percentage of false positive/negative. Thanks to Fortinet's technology we have managed to reduce the configuration time, as well as handle quarantining in a personalized way by integrating authentication with our corporate directory."

"FortiMail is a robust solution, purpose-built to handle inbound and outbound messaging security for the company, providing an intuitive and user-friendly interface for administration," Vera Sanchez added. "Thanks to this new tool we now have automatic statistics and indicators that enable us to create dashboards simply, as we need them."

The FortiMail family of appliances delivers email security to any size organization, from small businesses to carriers, service providers and large companies. Purpose-built for the most demanding messaging systems, FortiMail appliances utilize Fortinet's years of experience in protecting networks against spam, malware and other message-borne threats.
